Leviticus 11 is found in the Old Testament of the Holy Bible and the Torah. That chapter tells us which animals are clean and which are unclean and that you should not eat unclean animals. This is a rule given to us to maintain good health, not an admission ticket to heaven.
Health and strength are important if you want to enjoy life and not be side-tracked from living with chronic ailments for which most medical doctors will prescribe some form of medication that hides the effects of the disease and doesn’t correct the cause. Several of the books that are featured were written by Mike Brown. Over the last 30 years he has studied the scientific reasons for the dietary laws (not the Ten Commandments which are moral rules) found in the Old Testament.
Mike’s first book was The Strength of Samson: How to Attain It. He discovered that Samson’s mother was given a diet to follow while she was pregnant with Samson who was nutritionally programmed for strength while growing in the womb. Mike wrote this in 1973. In the year 2000 I helped him edit and update the current edition of the book.
Mike had his wife try this diet in 1980 and they had a baby girl. When she was two, a UPS driver had put down a large package so he could get a signature and she walked off with it.
The driver said, “That’s a strong little boy you’ve got.”
Mike answered, “It’s a little girl.”
She became a college soccer player.
Another book Mike wrote is Sex, Money and Power: The Bible Shows You How which he wrote in 1994. In this book he shows how the Bible teaches principles to use in your life to get whatever you want — sex, money or power. The two of us edited and updated this book in 1998. That is the edition I sell now.
Another book available, Rich Tucker’s Biblical Nutrition, was written by request when Mike Brown met Rich Tucker, a chiropractic student at the time. Mike was impressed with Rich’s knowledge of nutrition and wanted him to put it in writing. Rich presents a diet and exercise program to follow that will help improve strength. He explains how to eat on a low budget and not sacrifice nutritional needs.
Another book available is Unhealthy Food = Unhealthy People by Harold Simpson. This book explains that fresh food contains the nutrition the human body needs.
Today’s modern supermarket uses about one third of its floor space for fresh food. The rest of the floor space contains canned, frozen, and instant food so the person who prepares the meals only spends a few minutes heating up the various items that make up breakfast, lunch or supper. This stuff is nutritionally deficient and too much of it can result in health problems.
